The thickness of this floss is typically well-received by most people due to the potential for enhanced hygiene and scrubbing, however, this may not be the best option for you if your teeth are tightly-packed together. The Company

The Cocofloss team is led by 2 sisters from San Francisco: Chrystle (the Dentist) and Cat (the Engineer). Using a minimalist approach, they curated, formulated and designed this increasingly popular floss. Their product is cruelty-free, vegan, gluten free and paraben free, which definitely appeals to me. I love what they stand for!

Natural

Cocofloss may not be all-natural, but it certainly is infused with natural ingredients. Even if you aren’t concerned with changing your daily products over to all-natural, it certainly doesn’t hurt to add in a few of these beneficial ingredients. On the flip side, this is a great option for those of you who have heard about the benefits of natural oils for your oral health and have been looking for ways to add them. Due to Cocofloss already being infused with the oils, that removes the concern for measuring and diluting from your responsibility. Synthetic products can feel as if you’re putting sugar on your enamel, add to sensitivity, or even leave your mouth feeling dry. Multifilament

We have already mentioned the benefits of multifilament floss, but let’s talk about it a moment longer. This thick strand of multifilament is soft on your gums and cushions your teeth while you floss. In my experience, I have had multiple types of floss catch on my fillings or crowns, which makes me nervous. Knowing that this floss has a larger strand comforts me with the smaller chance of damaging my fillings.

Coconut Oil

We’ve touched on essential oils aiding your oral health, but how do they actually work? The first listed Cocofloss oil is coconut oil, quite naturally. Even though coconut oil isn’t an essential oil, but rather, a carrier oil for dilution of essential oils, it still provides health benefits orally. By now, we’ve all heard coconut oil is a superfood, but it might be surprising to hear about these benefits for your dental health. After all, it’s not exactly typical to consider oil as an option for improved oral health. Coconut oil is the richest source of lauric acid known to man. Lauric acid is broken down by your body into monolaurin, though both lauric acid and monolaurin are helpful for eliminating viruses, harmful bacteria, and fungi. Lauric acid has been said to be more effective at killing these pathogens than other fatty acids. This translates to benefitting our oral health by killing the harmful bacteria in our mouths, which typically cause decay, gum disease, and bad breath in the end. Microcrystalline wax, just as with paraffin, is derived from petroleum. However, this wax is oftentimes used in beauty products due to its fantastic bonding properties, as well as the fact that it is tacky and elastic, which can provide a number of uses in cosmetics. Microcrystalline wax is composed of fine crystals, which are both adhesive and provide flexibility. It is thin, which is ideal for coating an already thick strand of floss, such as Cocofloss.
